OLD NEWS
29 November
2009
Congratulations
to Stuart who got married on Saturday the 28th of November. A
few pictures from the evening reception have been added to the
2009 gallery.
There is little
news to report regarding the club now the planning regulations
have had time to settle in and it is now business as usual.
08 May 2009
Thank you to
all members for staying within the flying times. It remains
important to avoid flying close to the fishing lake whenever
possible at any time of the day. Also extra care to minimize
noise should be taken when flying on an evening. Currently,
everyone appears to be doing the above and this should see that
the club has no problems in the future.
Flyins for the
2009 season are underway. A list of flyins has been added to the
events section.
Can members
please remember to wash cups after making drinks at the club and
add 10 pence per cup into the money jar. This also includes the
times when other people make you a drink

Now
that the nights are getting lighter we can take advantage with
some evening flying. Tuesday night is club night, when a large
number of members attend. Only quiet electric fixed wing models
and less than 500 size electric helicopters can be flown after
8PM . On an evening keep all flying away from the fishing lake
end of the field.
Can all members please make
sure they have paid the club fees before flying. Please see
Mark, Ian, Andy P or Simon at the field with your cash or a
cheque made payable to Thearne Model Aircraft Club

Planning
permission for the club has been approved today. This process
started about two years ago following noise complaints from
local residents. Club members adhering to flying time
restrictions brought in after the complaints helped secure the
planning decision in the clubs favour.
The current
flying times (between 10am and 8pm) still remain, as this is a
condition of the planning approval. Some electric models can be
flown after 8pm. It is very important that these models are
quiet. This includes small helicopters, 450 sized or below
and quiet fixed wing. Zagis and other flying wings are thought
to be inappropriate for this time of night due to the noise
produced. If you are unsure about the noise produce from a model
see one of the club officials and they will help to make a
decision.
Please do not
over-fly the fishing lake which is located 300 metres from the
north end of the main runway. It is also important to keep
landing approaches and circuits as small as possible at this end
of the flying field.
The club will
still be monitored to ensure we are keeping to the conditions of
the planning approval. If everyone carries on as normal then
there will be no problems.
Club membership
is due by the end of this month. Payment can be made to one of
the club officials at the field. The fees are the same price as
last year at £72

We hope that you
all enjoyed the Christmas holidays. Although the weather was
cold a good number of members still enjoyed flying with
relatively light winds.
Now that we are
into the New Year you must have paid your BMFA membership before
flying. If you have renewed it directly with the BMFA please
bring your new card with you. Those of you who still need to
rejoin please see Mark
Dorning, Andy Watson or Simon Scott at the Field. Cash or a Cheque made
payable to Thearne Model Aircraft Club for £28 is required. Once
you have paid up you are insured to fly immediately.
Macgregor have
issued a service note for the JR DSX9 regarding stick wiring.

The new website
has finally been uploaded for all members to use. It is not 100%
complete but hopefully it shouldn't take much longer to finish
it off. If there are any bad links or things you think can be
improved please email
simonrscott@hotmail.com
The main news
is that the Christmas club night out is only a couple of days
away. The night out has been organized by Andy Watson. He has
put a lot work in to organize the event so a big thanks to him.
Despite the
cold weather there are plenty of people flying on weekends and
through the week. If you haven't been to the field for a while
it is time to get yourself there and dust the cobwebs off your
models.
A few of the
members gave up most of a Saturday to lay some tarmac chips on
the road. This has made a huge improvement. Please try to keep
to a reasonable speed so it lasts!
As usual please keep the caravan tidy and make sure any dirty
cups are washed up before you leave.
The BMFA membership is due by the end
of the month. Everyone should receive a renewal letter from the
club within the next couple of weeks
