The club was founded in 2002 at
Thearne near Beverley - East Yorkshire, many hours of work have
gone into preparing a safe place to enjoy our hobby of flying.
Existing members now enjoy a relaxed atmosphere and do not need
to carry out any maintenance work on the upkeep of the site,
this is undertaken by the founder members and volunteers.
The site is now flyable all year
round as the access road has been prepared and a car park laid.
Drainage has been laid to remove water from the runways and
surrounding areas. We have facilities for the members to enjoy a
relaxed hot drink in the club house (Mobile Home) which has a
working stove and heater etc. for those chilly winter days.
Flying takes place between 10AM up to 8PM 7 days a week.
Membership
runs for a year from the 1st of April and for those using 35 MHz
secures you a dedicated frequency, this means each frequency is
only shared with one other person.
For obvious reasons a peg board is used and in most cases this
system produces very little waiting times if any at all. The
club also has many of its members using 2.4GHz
The club caters for Planes,
Helicopters, Gliders and Jets. With common sense all these
disciplines operate from the same site without any problems. The
club offers free lessons for members, up to the BMFA B
certificate standard, from BMFA recognised instructors. The
club has two examiners. This
allows Fixed wing to be taken up to B certificate. The club
encourages members to take the BMFA tests to improve on
safety and maintain its excellent safety record.
